Mario’s Mix Volume 1

Posted by mario64mario on July 3, 2008

That’s right people, it’s finally time!!! =D

Song: Surrender

Artist: Billy Talent

Album: Billy Talent II

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyrics – 5 – No swearing =D
Beat – 4 – Great beat for an acoustic song.
Rhythm – 4 – Great rhythm. Catchy, even!
Vocals – 3.5 – Lots of change. Ben (lead singer)’s voice is a bit whiny at times.
About the song – This is Billy Talent’s first love (<3) song! The song is basically about a guy who likes one of his friends, but is afraid to talk to her about how he feels, becuase he fears she will reject him. Then he starts to ponder if it’s too late. Oh, and on a side note: The friend? Yup. She’s clueless.
About the band – Billy Talent is a Canadian punk rock band formed in 1993 in Mississauga, Ontario. They have had 3 studio albums. Their first, ‘Watoosh!’, was released when the band was named ‘Pezz’. Later on, the band changed to Billy Talent, and has released ‘Billy Talent’ and ‘Billy Talent II’. It was also just announced in May of 2008 that they are working on a fourth album.
‘Surrender’ is not BT’s usual work. They sound more like the part:
“I think I found a flower in a field of weeds
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds
Searching until my hands bleed”
in terms of rocking-ness.
Lyrics
She reads a book from across the street
Waiting for someone that she’ll never meet
Talk over coffee for an hour or two
She wonders why I’m always in a good mood
Killing time before she struts her stuff
She needs support and I’ve become the crutch
She’ll never know how much she means to me
I’d play the game but I’m the referee
[CHORUS]
(Surrender)
Every word, every thought, every sound
(Surrender)
Every touch, every smile, every frown
(Surrender)
All the pain we’ve endured until now
(Surrender)
All the hope that I lost you have found
(Surrender) Yourself to me
Even though I know what I’m looking for
She’s got a brick wall behind her door
I’d travel time and confess to her
But I’m afraid she’d shoot the messenger
[CHORUS]
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds
Searching until my hands bleed
This flower don’t belong to me
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds
Searching until my hands bleed
This flower don’t belong to me
This flower don’t belong to me
Why can’t she belong to me?
Every word, every thought, every sound
Every touch, every smile, every frown
All the pain we’ve endured until now
All the hope that I lost, you have found
[CHORUS]
(Surrender)
Every word, every thought, every sound
(Surrender)
Every touch, every smile, every frown
(Surrender)
All the pain we’ve endured until now
(Surrender)
All the hope that I lost you have found
(Surrender)
I never had the nerve to ask
(Surrender)
Has my moment come and passed?
(Surrender)
I never had the nerve to ask
(Surrender)
Has my moment come and passed?
(Surrender)
I never had the nerve to ask
(Surrender)
Has my moment come and passed?
(Surrender)
I never had the nerve to ask
Keep on rockin’ in the free world! =D
  1. Good article and song, Mario.
    I found that Ben’s part-Polish, which explains the accent I thought was done by synthetizers.
  2. Yea, I forgot to mention that. I didn’t think anyone would notice the accent a lot though 😉
